Nudge — Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 8, 2026

Nudge is a personal task and event manager. This policy explains what information the app collects, why, where it's stored, and how you can remove it. It's a short list because the app is built to keep the surface area small.

How you sign in

You can sign in to Nudge with an email + password, with Google, or with Sign in with Apple. When you sign in we store the minimum needed to identify you across devices: your display name, email address, and (optionally) a profile photo. If you choose "Hide My Email" during Sign in with Apple, the email we see is the private relay address Apple gives us — your real address stays with Apple.

What we collect

What we don't collect

Where your data is stored

Nudge uses Google Firebase for sign-in, data sync, and push delivery. Your data is stored in Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore, served from Google's US data centers. Standard Firebase security rules restrict each user's data to themselves and the friends they explicitly share lists or calendars with.

Google Calendar (optional)

If you connect your Google account in Settings → Google Calendar, Nudge syncs personal events between the app and your primary Google Calendar. To do this, with your permission, Nudge requests access to:

Access tokens are stored on your device only. Nudge does not read your other Google data and does not share what it reads with anyone. You can disconnect any time from Settings → Google Calendar → Disconnect Account; on disconnect, events imported from Google Calendar are removed from the app and any remaining personal events stop syncing. Your Google Calendar itself is never modified by the disconnect.

Apple Calendar (optional)

If you connect Apple Calendar in Settings → Calendar Sync, Nudge reads events from the iOS Calendar app on your iPhone so they appear alongside your Nudge tasks. Edits you make in Nudge are written back to the same calendar. Access uses Apple's EventKit framework and only fires after you explicitly grant Calendar permission to Nudge in iOS Settings.

Apple Calendar events that originate on your iPhone stay on your iPhone unless you also sync them to a cloud-backed calendar yourself (e.g. iCloud). Nudge mirrors Apple-origin events into your Nudge data so they show up across your devices. You can disconnect any time from Settings → Calendar Sync → Disconnect Apple Calendar; on disconnect, Apple-origin events are removed from Nudge. The events on your iPhone calendar are never deleted by the disconnect.

Push notifications

Reminders for tasks and events are scheduled locally on your device. Shared-list / shared-calendar activity (when a friend adds something) is delivered via Expo's push notification service. The notification text includes the item title and the inviter's name. You can disable shared-activity push from the Settings tab.

Attachments

Photos, videos, and files you attach to tasks or events are referenced by their local URI on your device. Task/event attachments are not uploaded to our servers in the current version. Note: that means they aren't visible across your other devices and are lost if you delete Nudge from this phone.

Your profile photo (the avatar shown on your Nudge account and on shared-list member rows) is uploaded to Firebase Storage so it follows you across devices and is visible to people you share with. You can remove it any time from the profile photo menu; deleting your account removes it permanently.

Deleting your data

You can delete your entire Nudge account directly from the app: open the Settings tab → Account → Delete account. This permanently removes your profile, personal tasks and lists, friend records, and pending invites, and it deletes the Firebase Authentication entry tied to your sign-in. Shared lists and calendars you own are deleted along with their contents; shared items where you're a member retain their data but you are removed from the member list.

The deletion is immediate and can't be undone from the app. If you need help, email stevehalas1@gmail.com.

Children

Nudge is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app changes. The "Last updated" date above will reflect any revisions; meaningful changes will be surfaced in-app or by email.
